Are you a bot? Or just that damn good!

Are you a bot. The changes you are making are coming at a very fast pace. If you are doing this manually, it is truly amazing.

If you are a bot, please register as such, so the changes can be filtered out, and perhaps automatically patrolled.

RingTailCat (talk) 19:03, 21 November 2011 (EST)

If you are booting, just create "ArtifactBot' or something along those lines and any admin or I can give you bot status. --Lotroadmin (talk) 19:25, 21 November 2011 (EST)

Artifact I'm not a bot... Took notes and did the checks/compares/math on paper before I came to lotro-wiki to do the editing. Sorry for the flood.

Heh, no apologies needed. Thanks for all your contributions today. :) It'll take me a while to catch up with the patrols, but it's great to see all those stack counts added/updated. Welcome again! Sethladan 21:55, 21 November 2011 (EST)
Apologies.. and glad to have ya --Lotroadmin (talk) 22:47, 21 November 2011 (EST)

Current Work - Automation

User:Artifact/Work For Others: Mis-Sized Icons was updated Artifact (talk) 17:15, 19 April 2012 (EDT)

I spot checked this list and found that several I had fixed were still in the list. What's going on? RingTailCat (talk) 18:51, 19 April 2012 (EDT)
Hmm, problem in the comparison or old data somewhere - let me clean out and redo. Artifact (talk) 19:01, 19 April 2012 (EDT)
Thanks for the catch, the cache I had wasn't being cleared correctly if the same icon existed but was updated. This has now been corrected Artifact (talk) 19:13, 19 April 2012 (EDT)

Weird Stuff: Pan-seared Potatoes and Lamb is Supreme Recipe, but Cut of Traveller's Pan-seared Beef in Cooked Food Index. Not sure if this is 2 things or the name changed or ??? (I haven't been out that far through LOTRO - with a cook anyway - to know)

Hi Artifact, I have noticed your great work on updating an amazing amount of pages. Just wanted to say "thanks" and keep up the good work.
On this idea I pass, but it seems well to set up a plan and carry it out. If nobody objects I guess you can use the talk page on the recipe side of the site. And probably stick to a section of recipes at the time. Per profession? Or crafting tier? Just to keep the task manageable, don't you think?
I am the mapoholic of this place and whatever you see me do is 99% of the time rooted in some location, but some such edits give far-reaching side-effects. Sometimes into recipes. But I am very much a crafter, perhaps less in Lotro than I was in SWG before it was announced dead. Zimoon 02:23, 23 November 2011 (EST)
PS. Many many editors do exactly what you do, having a list of planned-for tasks or a table as the above at their own user-space. Feel free to create as many "sand-boxes" within your user-space as you need. DS. Zimoon 02:24, 23 November 2011 (EST)

Key things to check in future releases (patches, U6, etc.)

The following items disappeared from Novice/Expert Cooks in Update 5:

The following are not currently in the LOTRO store (mistake?):

The following items still are in barter windows ... but were converted to Marks so the barters are invalid (but still in game, so left on Lotro-wiki):

The following is just an incomplete implementation of Marks:

  • Tad Leafcutter still barters Anniversary tokens for old Skirmish Marks

Need help on Lotro-Wiki Policy - Items Removed in Update 5

The following items no longer exist in game as of RoI or Update 5:

  • Quest:Attack at Dawn -- Daily
  • Quest:Defence of The Prancing Pony -- Daily
  • Quest:Protectors of Thangúlhad (Daily)
  • Quest:Siege of Gondamon -- Daily
  • Quest:Stand at Amon Sûl -- Daily
  • Quest:Strike Against Dannenglor -- Daily
  • Quest:The Ford of Bruinen -- Daily
  • Quest:The Icy Crevasse -- Daily
  • Quest:Thievery and Mischief -- Daily
  • Quest:Trouble in Tuckborough -- Daily
  • Quest:Breaching the Necromancer's Gate -- Daily

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Artifact (Contribs • User Talk) at 23 December 2011.

This is an interesting list: I'm not a heavy Skirmish player, and I realize that Turbine is always changing things, without providing details ... but

  • All of these are still in game... although they do not have the "-- Daily" suffix, and, as far as I know, they never did.
  • All are Skirmishes, and I don't believe they ever were Quests.
  • I was not aware that any skirmish ever awarded Rep.
  • The levels indicated for them are seriously wrong. Most all of them are in fact "ranged" -- Siege of Gondamon, for example is lvl 20-75, not lvl 75, and could never have been as it was one of the first skirmishes.

All of which is to say...

  1. I don't know why they exist in the first place.
  2. Why are they "quests" at all (ok, Format I understand) but why in Category Quests? That "moniker" is truly misleading as they really have very little in common with quests. But when the type is Skirmish, that should turn off a lot of the Quest automagic stuff.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC (talk) 18:32, 29 December 2011 (EST)
The daily quests are referring to the dailies that were automatically granted once per day to give extra rewards, and are separate from from the actual skirmishes, which have separate entries here on the wiki. And yes, the daily quests were removed with Update 5 when all the skirmish rewards were adjusted for the mark consolidation and addition of the instance finder buffs. One nice thing is that all the skirmishes that used to give rep once per day will now reward rep every time you run them.
I'm not aware of any official wiki policy, but I'm sure you've seen some of the discussion elsewhere, like at Talk:Update 5, Armies of Isengard - December 12, 2011. The safest thing is just to mark the page with the {{Obsolete}} template, and possibly include a comment or note on the talk page if you want to say anything extra about it being removed from the game. These quests might deserve deletion, but I'm not involved with skirmishes on the wiki so I'd leave that decision to other people. -- Elinnea (talk) 19:15, 29 December 2011 (EST)
For "obsolete" you may want the guide & tips at Category talk:Obsolete
I concur with Elinnea, there is no official wiki policy on this one. And discussing suggestions would be better done in Category_talk:Quests I guess (at least for now). One thing is sure, though: it's better having content than noting ;)
