Neverwinter

I've followed Dungeons and Dragons from the early boxed sets for pen and paper, through console and PC games to MMORPGs. Our kids introduced my wife and I to Turbine's DDO several years ago, where we got invites into the open beta program for LOTRO's F2P version, and we've been dedicated players since.

Recently, I found my game playing time severely limited. Rather than spending a lot of time at play, I ended up looking around at different games. I found Neverwinter, and was quickly hooked on the game. And I found their wiki was in need of some editing.

So, for the next while, I expect I will be playing Neverwinter, and editing that wiki, in much the same way as I have done with LOTRO and this wiki for the last few years.

I expect I will drop by once in a while, as my wife continues to play a wicked weaver on Vilya.

Indeed, you will be sorely missed. Have fun with Neverwinter and whipping their wiki into shape. You know you'll always be welcome here. :) -- Elinnea (talk) 21:54, 21 June 2013 (EDT)

Do you know anything about: Template_talk:Item_Tooltip#Undocumented.2Fincomplete_changes...?

Do you know anything about: Template_talk:Item_Tooltip#Undocumented.2Fincomplete_changes...?

Don't know if you get an email notification of updates to your Talk page...

Not really. But I do get email notification of changes to this page.
| amount={{{amount|}}} ensures that the parameter has a value. There is a subtle difference between a parameter that is undefined, and a parameter with a blank value. This ensures that the parameter has a blank value. The whole line is creating a parameter for the call to Template:Tooltip which does a lot of common formatting for different kinds of tooltips. Basically, the input parameter is being passed along to the next level of template.
BTW, "Relic:" is not actually a namespace, as far as the search page is concerned. All the namespaces are (or should be) listed when you display the advanced search. Just using a "Name:" does not make a namespace; the admin has to do some configuration changes.

Hanging Properties

Slowly making my way through creature pages and their drop queries - saw on Item:Small_Whetstone that two of your sandbox pages still have some properties on them. User:RingTailCat/Sandbox-17 uses the lootitems template and User:RingTailCat/Sandbox-8 applies them directly. Was going to simply blank the first and remove the add'l tags on the second, but saw that you pop by on occassion and figured you would prefer to do so yourself ^_^. If you would remove those hanging properties that would be appreciated! Thanks! --Savi (talk) 12:27, 30 August 2013 (EDT)

I blanked those two pages. RingTailCat (talk) 12:37, 30 August 2013 (EDT)

Coming Back?

  • I have heard amazing tails of how your bots make light work! Come back and show me your wisdom! Matthew.zellmer (talk) 22:06, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
FYI, I have a Bot configured ( User: Magill-bot ), which can probably still work. Pywikipedia has been converted from SVN to GIT and has been having serious problems with the distribution since that conversion. My copy was downloaded just before the conversion.
I simply have no experience doing anything other than some very trivial changes. And some of those passes don't/didn't work the way I believe they should.

Sorry i....

Hello RingTailCat,

Looks like there was a new check on the server side that had a conflict with special characters on your archive2 page. I fumbled my way around to root cause the issue and might have made a mess when i recovered your archive2 page. I believe everything is restored except for the section that had the violation, if I failed to fully recover the right sections let me know and I will try to do better :) --Lotroadmin (talk) 02:57, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

I think this is the missing section.
Yes. I get an error like:
Database error

A database query error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software.
when I try to preview the page.
I had to disable the wiki links in the 2nd and 4th paragraphs. These wiki links contained Cyrillic characters. Non-ascii characters still seem to work in the wiki text though.
There may still be some relevant ramblings regarding non-ascii characters in wiki text there.

Another problem with my Archive2 page

Still something wonky going on with your Archive 2 page. Now getting tons of popups stating:
Error: MapData missing for <region>
I know you're not really doing anything on the wiki at the moment, but just so you know. :) --Ravanel (talk) 13:31, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I have not been very active on LOTRO since around January, 2020. And even less active on lotro-wiki. I am often on Lotro Interface to check for plugin updates and check the forums. I am doing a lot of other things (not games) recently, such as learning a new (human) language, studying NLP, doing stuff with Cygwin, and lots of Python coding.
My Archive* pages are exactly that, archives of this page. There is not a lot of reason to go back an fix up problems there.
I think the message above is from the lotro-wiki database. Possibly the name of the region map image or a related page has changed. At least that is where I would start.
--RingTailCat (talk) 02:33, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
Not sure how it was before - but it might be because of the rework of the coords.js - as there are links to incorrect map coordinates on the archive page.
Tho it seems those incorrect links are deliberately there, to show the behavior from other wikipages.
