Description
Durin III was King of Khazad-dûm in the Second Age, when Sauron laid waste to Eregion and the forges of the elven Ring-smiths. Durin III was by then in possession of one of the seven dwarf-rings, called Handórm or Angya, which remained with his descendants until Thráin was captured and held in the dungeons of Dol Guldur. Though Durin III did aid the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, with whom the dwarves of Khazad-dûm were close friends, the dwarves were eventually driven back into Khazad-dûm and Durin III was forced to close the gates.
