King Vidugavia of Rhovanion lived in the middle Third Age and held reign over the Northmen living east of Mirkwood up to the River Running; the region which would later become the Barding-lands.

To strengthen the bond between their people, Kin Rómendacil II of Gondor brought many Northmen into his service, and showed especial favour to King Vidugavia. Rómendacil II sent his son Valacar to live with Vidugavia as the ambassador of Gondor, to learn the language and culture of the Northmen.

Valacar fell in love with Vidugavia's daughter Vidumavi. They married and had a son, Eldacar, named "Vinitharya" by the Northmen. The family returned to Gondor after some years, but their marriage and heir were not well received by many of the lords of Gondor, who thought ill of the mixing of blood in the royal line.

Vidugavia himself would become the distant ancestor of the Kings of Rohan through another of his children, whose name is not known.
