AFK

To anyone who's wondering, I've got several final exams coming up in the next few weeks, and the past few days I've been busy backing things up and setting up my linux server. That means I won't be doing much editing, and I'll only check up on how things are going every day or two. I'll still be at the chat meeting. --Fedaykin 20:16, 5 April 2008 (PDT)

My Userpage

I've made some major modifications and I think it looks a lot better now. However, I'm still having one issue that I just can't figure out. Notice how on the image of Sharek, the table border at the top and left of the image is not shown? If anyone knows how this can be fixed, go ahead and edit it or let me know how to here. Thanks --Fedaykin 17:06, 9 December 2007 (PST)

Hmm... now that I look at it in Internet Explorer, it looks just fine. Meh... I guess it's just a Firefox thing then. --Fedaykin 10:35, 11 December 2007 (PST)
Yup -- strangeness from FireFox. Here, check this out for a bit more info on the bug -- User:Eleazaros/Sandbox#test_spot just scroll the page up a bit, then back down, and loook at the lines in the table. They'll not be there when you first look at it. When the table is scrolled off the screen and back... They "kind of" show up. (in other words 'repainting' of the presentation, by scrolling, "kind of" puts the lines back in.)
Favor: When you're done looking at your user banner, edit the section and delete it from my test spot. That way I know when you've seen it and it's cool to remove. I get a bit sloppy with my sandbox at times... It *is* my sandbox and all!!! *snicker*
Don't dispare on one little FireFox glitch. Here's a reverse bug you can look at The "EVIL" Table -- check that table in FireFox and IE. I really had to tweak the design around to get it to render even close to what FireFox allowed and IE won't honor the span text change in that old design (and trashes borders pretty ugly too). This is just stuff I was playing with prior to abandoning my lorebook contributions.

Special Character Naming

I always try & include the appropriate special characters, as that is what I saw being done when I joined the wiki. I guess it would be best to have the "plain text" version available too as a redirect (or one of them as a redirect, maybe it doesn't matter which). DancesInTrees 00:20, 24 September 2007 (PDT)

WB

Welcome back :) Have you been in the Rift yet? (Or Goblin Town?, even though most of that isn't instanced.) And yes Emma is almost all growed up (49 now); and I can't wait to get her there so I can concentrate on my LM instead, much much more fun :p But she has done a few (partial) rift runs. DancesInTrees 11:18, 10 November 2007 (PST)

Thanks, it's good to be back in the game :) I logged back in yesterday and found out my old kinship was running the Rift that night, and still didn't have a champion, so I tagged along while we cleared up past Narnulubat and then had to call it a night. Altogether I must say I was thoroughly impressed - the new raid is actually very entertaining and challenging (at least with one minstrel), not the mindless boredom that ensues from running (literally) through Helegrod. I noticed that Turbine had begun to step it up with the latest batch of instances for Annuminas in terms of creativity, and this new patch definitely doesn't disappoint. On top of that, they fixed Controlled Burn finally, and I can't wait for the upcoming patch which will entirely fix up my class. Oh, and did I mention that the Rift armor set for champions looks and is awesome? Anyways, you'll definitely have a lot of fun in the Rift :) --Fedaykin 12:08, 10 November 2007 (PST)

Rift image

VERY nice picture you added. It improved so much on the old and shows one of the most characteristical things of the rift, the arena. Did you take it yourself or is it a dev picture? Also the new Zurm picture is rather good. Shows movement and he's alone. /salute --Anarchie 06:35, 30 November 2007 (PST)

Thanks, I took all the pictures myself... that one of the arena was taken from a little rock elevation near the Giant Conversion Trader. I saw the view and thought wow, that is definitely a new instance picture :)
As for Zurm, I've been going through last run and trying to get the best pictures I can of mobs and bosses. Zurm was the only boss where I really got that good shot, without players from the front while in action. Unfortunately his Mace is covering his face a little, but that's ok. Some of the shots I got of mobs though, I gotta give myself credit there... you'll see when they're up :) --Fedaykin 10:17, 30 November 2007 (PST)

Other

Hello Fed, I promoted your wiki account today, I think you gain the ability to delete pages and promote/demote your fellow wiki editors. --Hinney 14:02, 24 November 2007 (PST)

Thank you! I'm honored to have this position, and I will use it wisely :) --Fedaykin 16:03, 24 November 2007 (PST)

Hiya, nice work on the bosses & instances - they do need some TLC :) - we've recently created categories to show creature difficulty levels, which are probably worth adding to the creature pages . DancesInTrees 00:25, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

Hey, thanks :) - Just checked out the categories. I saw no bosses listed (aside from Skorgrim later on in the books), so do you basically want all of the bosses to be categorized by their difficulty level, and have the "Boss" category gone altogether, or should they be in both? Oh, and check the talk on instances, I'd like some input when you have a moment :) --Fedaykin 06:54, 12 July 2007 (PDT)
Sorry, meant to reply but forgot :p . I'd say keep the "Boss" category - many of the stronger stuff are just on the way to bosses, or bosses' helpers - being an Elite Master doesn't guarantee you Boss status ;) . As for instances I've only done Garth Agarwen (& the Great Barrow) so I'm not sure I can add a lot atm (although I may peek my nose into Fornost soon) but will do so when I can (as I did splitting off the Agamaur stuff from GA). DancesInTrees 23:53, 4 August 2007 (PDT)

You've been ninja-d :D (Which basically seems to mean you can now delete pages if I recall correctly.) DancesInTrees 09:10, 21 August 2007 (PDT)

0_o Ninja'd? *polite cough* I am the master ninja already, perhaps you would know this if you have played with me. My repertoire of ninja skills includes:
  • Sprint 'n' mine the ore deposits before your burglar friend gets there.
  • Ninja-mining ore deposits while you're busy fighting the mob beside it. Chop! Bam! Gone!
  • Ninja-slap - An attack that guarantees you will get the killing blow on that silly creep, while all the hunters are scratching their heads wondering how you did it.
  • Ninja-looting the mobs and taking all your phat teal epix, then charging into another group before you have time to recover power.
  • Slaughtering 450+ Trolls in Misty Mountains in one night for a deed like only a true ninja could!!! (true story... with a little help from some lesser ninja apprentices)
Anyways... *bow* thanks for the privileges, I will ninja... err... use them well :) --Fedaykin 14:49, 21 August 2007 (PDT)

Sad to see you move on :( but all the best for whatever games/s you go on to, and perhaps more importantly, all the best with college DancesInTrees 23:46, 13 September 2007 (PDT)

Thanks :) I'm taking courses in network administration right now, and I enjoy it a lot, so I will be dedicated to that. As for games I tried moving to CoH/CoV with my kinship while we wait for Age of Conan to release, but I think I've generally gotten burnt out on games after putting in what must have been about 30+ hours a week for the past 8-10 years of gaming. I must admit though, I drool all over my 360 when I think about HALO 3 releasing in less than a week! I did say I'd come back and check on lotro-wiki from time to time, and that I will do. --Fedaykin 18:12, 19 September 2007 (PDT)

hey Fedaykinx i hope u don't mind me adding a few loot items to your bg article its good man btw keep it up

Thanks, and sure thing, the more you can add the better :) I've seen you around on Elendilmir, though I unfortunately never did get to meet you. Nice to see you on here! --Fedaykin 18:12, 19 September 2007 (PDT)

chat meeting

hei there, Fedaykin =)

I am suggesting a chat meeting over at contributor's corner, could you look over it and say what do you think about it? --Xander 02:25, 6 January 2008 (PST)

Im sorry but i cant make it, im very very rarely home in the weekends (long distance relationships are a bitch ;) ) i will read the notes with great joy and enthusiasm though. It would be cool if we could get some statistics on how many use the site on a daily basis, maybe you could ask the hoster to include some basic stats in the meeting notes aswell. --Anarchie 07:45, 6 February 2008 (PST)
Too bad you can't make it. I'll look into your suggestion though, and we can discuss it at latest when we have the meeting. --Fedaykin 10:47, 6 February 2008 (PST)

Citation needed?

Talk:Ettendeep
For the article requesting a citation. I also put some meat on the bones of the Citation base information for the site (mostly pointing it to Wikipedia for defintion). I'm not sure on how you want to close down your "citation needed" part so I figured I'd put the info out for you and you can deal with it... (yeah, lazy... I know... *snicker*) --Eleazaros 18:04, 7 January 2008 (PST)

nav boxes

I see you've added the Deed Nav Box to to class deed pages... imho it doesn't look good with the one navbox that was already there, we probably should choose one of them to stay... --Xander 10:41, 23 January 2008 (PST)

I just found that going to the "deeds" part of the class infobox lead to a "dead end" in a sense that you couldn't easily get back to one of the other pages for that class. As for the Deeds infobox... well, it all depends where you're visiting the page from, I don't really find having two infoboxes looks all that bad, does it? Either we just get the table to be moved up so it's beside the class infobox, instead of being pushed down, or we could put a noinclude line on the page linking back to the respective class page? --Fedaykin 11:04, 23 January 2008 (PST)

boss nav templates

Howdy, I copied a zone nav template for usage with bosses, see {{Rift}} for example... now all you need is just to copy the content to other instance template and replace the header with the name of the instance and in the body you put a list of bosses... tell me if thats what you wanted, or if you have other suggestions ;) --Xander 01:47, 25 January 2008 (PST)

Communication

Anyway to get ahold of you on a messenger program? Rogue 10:42, 12 February 2008 (PST)

If you would like to contact me, you can do so via MSN - (sgs_ghost at hotmail com). --Fedaykin 16:49, 12 February 2008 (PST)
added, thanks :) Rogue 20:40, 12 February 2008 (PST)
Hmm are you sure you got it right? I didn't get the request. Remember that the underscore isn't spam protection. --Fedaykin 21:58, 12 February 2008 (PST)
It was something else but oops.. lol Rogue 22:17, 12 February 2008 (PST)

Nice layout look

Here's a template based upon that which will give you an equivalent look but works in both IE and Firefox.

How it looks in use:

User_talk:Eleazaros/Page

The template:

User:Eleazaros/Page

I adjusted the template to get rid of your [[Image:User ... stuff is about the only major change.

The biggest difference in viewing are:

  • Transparent Overlays (div's on images) are ignored in IE so whey folks mouseover the big image in IE, they can click it.
  • The divide between the 2 lower sections *may* be a different color (white) due to some hokey color stuff in IE.
That's about it.

Like I said, I like it so I figured you might want a slightly more "compatible" version.
--Eleazaros 19:08, 16 February 2008 (PST)

Hmm, that's interesting... although I'm not a big fan of the looks of the "compatible" version in terms of text alignment, I suppose I could implement an alternate version of my user-page for those IE-using n00bs ;) --Fedaykin 20:33, 16 February 2008 (PST)
It can be adjusted. the alignments, etc... also I noticed that the bottom table needs a fixed width assigned to it. It grows to the width of the page versus stopping at the width of the image. That just takes "... width:750px" being specified in the lower table area. It's pretty simple to get a compatible version done like that. You can see that it took me maybe 2 hours to slam that out after looking at your layout.
--Eleazaros 13:28, 17 February 2008 (PST)

log of the chat?

El was saying that there was a few questions that i need to address from last Saturday's meeting. Can send me the meeting notes? Thanks --Lotroadmin 00:07, 11 March 2008 (PDT)

Yup, still around

Yeah, I just had a bunch of stuff come up RL plus I decided to check out a bunch of things with Monster Play in game -- live servers. I have over 22 creeps now across 6 servers with 13 of them at rank 4.

I just got busy checking things out and then book 13 shipped... changes to look at, etc...

I've seen a lot of differences between what we are presenting versus what folks are asking after. Examples:

  • "What do I get at x rank?"
Folks want to know what they get versus just the tooltip info. Anyone can see a list at the trainer but what do they really provide? ("increases damage by your ..." does NOT tell you how much starting and at max power)
  • "What does <skill> do?"
Another common one where they are asking what a skill, trait or attribute actually does or if it is worth anything. (such as Westernesse mitigation being a junk resist versus something like fire or light which are far more common damage types).

Other such questions:

  • How do you play a troll? no info here on this.
  • What do the troll skills really do? (Roar? What is that?)
  • If we take a keep -- we'll lose our troll/ranger! (wrong -- it won't go until the timer is up.)
  • There is no way to fight back against LM's power draining... (wrong! Rock = 40m range -- the same as Power Drain so you can punch that LM at range if you target them. Ranged auto attack also is 40m range if you hit the attack button).

A lot of "bad" info and mis-information out there. I've also seen some seriously BAD raids run as well as some awesome raid tactics such as having wargs circle and go in right when a raid attacks, using "focused fire" via Skill Target Forwarding and using "focused healing" to keep 1 creep alive while a freep raid pounds on them AND the creep raid takes them out.

So...

  • A troll session play area is needed (along with a Ranger session play area)
Guides explaining the abilities and limitations of each.
Uses for -- flipping hot spots, etc...
How to neutralize/beat a troll/ranger.
Fear to neutralize temporarily, power drain on trolls, stuns, etc..
  • Running a Raid guide.
How to set your raid up as open so others may join automatically.
Disposition of classes within a raid (WL's, Wargs, Defilers in the same group or scattered across groups?)
Communication considerations -- voice vs raid chat vs OOC use -- including which channel should be used in what fashion.
Spying concerns/considerations (other side -- yeah this DOES happen across servers... a LOT...)
Keeping coordinated with trolls/rangers.
Raid Leader "shouts" in raid chat to notify of major changes.
etc...

A whole lot of information on stuff that I've been collecting that needs to get published and doesn't exist really. I've put some up on the turbine forums in a post here or there but not much. Mostly "I'll get to it..." stuff.

Anyhow, yeah -- I'm still around but just been busy with stuff in real life as well as ranking up each class of creep across various servers so I could see what the servers are like (personality wise) as well as how the "practice" stuff actually works in PvMP.

Stable-masters

Thanks for correcting Jack Cloverdale‎. I copied the information someone entered on Stable-master. I didn't know if the information I saw in-game was complete or not. I thought maybe the info changed with higher levels. If not, I assume most of the Horse Routes on Stable-master is out-of-date after various patches. Do you know if my assumption correct? --Glynnis 19:30, 16 May 2008 (PDT)

re: item templates

howdy,
I haven't tested {{settip}} yet with all diacritics and apostrophs, {{PAGENAME}} schould work for now, but does have problems, if you want to have/use it somewhere as a tooltip...
That brings something else to my attention - please do not change instructions on how to use the template before consulting with me ;) have a look at Rift-defender's Armour and tell me what's wrong with the tooltip of the gloves, I'll give you a tip look -- closely at the title and name of the icon it calls...
that was one of the reasons instructions were saying what they were saying ;)
I'll change copy'n'paste template back, and let you figure out how to make gloves function properly when tooltip is called from other page ;) --Xander 23:13, 17 May 2008 (PDT)

Fed, t|item has a few issues, that I haven't ironed out yet, use {{loot}} instead it requires only one additional (optional) parameter, but is stable afaik... --Xander 22:51, 18 May 2008 (PDT)

Sorry about missing the meeting

This weekend my sister needed some help moving so I've been (and still am) out of town -- playing "truck driver" for her and the like (what are big brothers for and all that...).

I'll probably be done later on today/tonight but, as of this time, I don't have access to the tools) to use IRC. --Eleazaros 11:21, 25 May 2008 (PDT)
