Tar-Minastir

Tar-Minastir was the 11th King of Númenor, and ruled for 138 years, Second Age 1731-1869.

During his reign, the War of the Elves and Sauron raged, and Eregion fell. When Sauron lay siege to Lindon and Imladris, Minastir sent the navy of Númenor to aid the Elves. During the Battle of the Gwathló, Sauron's forces were completely routed and the Dark Lord fled back to Mordor in defeat.

Because of this defeat at the hands of the island nation, Sauron later devised schemes directed in particular towards Númenor, casting his shadowy influence into the ranks of the people there.

Tar-Minastir was thus the last king to reign Númenor before Sauron's machinations split the island's spirit apart.
