Skald's Drop is a landmark within the Ironfold in the Iron Hills. ^{[21.2N, 15.7W]}

The area is the head of valley with fabulous views to the east over the lands of the Bardings. Impressive waterfalls fall into the valley. The road to the east into valley has been lost to a landslide.

The area attracts many visitors in times of peace, being a major throughway between Erebor and Dale and the Dalish fields in the lowlands, and beyond them the lands of the Zhélruka and the peoples of Rhûn. Lately, the stair at Skald's Drop has seen far more use from refugees fleeing ruin in the east than by traders. There is a campsite of Zhélruka dwarves nearby and a steady stream of Easterling refugees along the road.
