Bestowal dialogue

"For what reason did the servants of the Enemy seal this hall? It is untouched by evil and disturbed only by dust."

Background

After the wards surrounding Barad Cúron were destroyed, the fell magic sealing Uialrond, the Dome of Evening has been undone.

Objective 1

Dolenthol is standing inside Uialrond, the Dome of Evening.

You should talk to Dolenthol.

Dolenthol: 'I do not see any sign of evil in this place, <name>.
'It seems as if it were sealed and forgotten, but why?
'I wonder...'

Objective 2

  • Follow Dolenthol

You should follow Dolenthol into Uialrond, the Dome of Evening.

Dolenthol says, "What if we were not sealed out?"
Dolenthol says, "But instead something was sealed in...."
Faramir says, "As yet, I have seen no sign of evil, but still I fear something is amiss...."
Dolenthol says, "What would you ask of us, Prince Faramir?"
Faramir says, "Let us all search Uialrond and see if we do not find what eludes us."
Dolenthol says, "As you wish."
Uialrond appears to be curiously untouched by the evil in Minas Morgul

Objective 3

  • Search for anything that might explain why Uialrond was sealed

You should search Uialrond and try to discern why it was sealed.

You find nothing of note buried within this old dust and debris
This shelf holds many dusty books of Gondorian make
Only the plated gold on this chair is tarnished
This table is covered in a thick layer of dust, but conceals no secrets

Objective 4

  • Look down at the council table of Uialrond

You should find a good spot to look down at the council table of Uialrond.

Faramir says, "Can you see something from up there?"
A curious glimmer catches your eye!

Objective 5

  • Examine the source of the curious glimmer

You should examine the source of the curious glimmer.

Faramir says, "What have you found, <name>?"

Objective 6

You should witness the vision of Galadriel.

A small lamp-fragment of Lórien glimmers in the darkness and you feel a sudden presence
Faramir says, "What is this?"
Echo of Galadriel says, "In time of darkness and doubt, I send thee tidings of hope."
Echo of Galadriel says, "Our Enemy is cruel, and his throngs know naught of mercy."
Echo of Galadriel says, "But I have seen the courage of my people and thine proven many times."
Echo of Galadriel says, "I have beheld Minas Ithil, and it wakes in my heart an ache I had thought never again to feel."
Echo of Galadriel says, "I knew Gondolin of old, and thy stronghold is as like to it as any could now build."
Echo of Galadriel says, "Some of the evils visited upon this place cannot be undone."
Echo of Galadriel says, "Not all harms can be healed, yet much of worth can still be saved."
Echo of Galadriel says, "Oft it is the way of Men to destroy that which no longer pleases them..."
Echo of Galadriel says, "...rather than taking the care to mend it."
Echo of Galadriel says, "Yet it is my hope that some fondness for this vale endures in thee."
Echo of Galadriel says, "For while growing things endure..."
Echo of Galadriel says, "...with care we can wash the Enemy’s foulness from the land."
Faramir says, "Perhaps you are right..."
The echo of Galadriel fades back into the darkness of Uialrond
Dolenthol says, "Prince Faramir, I..."
Faramir says, "What is it?"
Dolenthol says, "Wait a moment..."
Faramir says, "Éowyn!"
Dolenthol says, "It is me, my love, and here I stand with you until Minas Ithil is healed."

Objective 7

You have witnessed the hopeful words of Galadriel, and Dolenthol has revealed himself to be the Lady Éowyn before Prince Faramir in Uialrond.

You should talk to Faramir.

Faramir: 'I did not wish for you to come to this place, Éowyn, but here in the darkness, I can think only of how much I have missed you. You are a woman of duty - none may turn you from your charge and indeed, none should dare to!'
Faramir embraces Eowyn.
'These are hopeful tidings from the Lady of Light, though it seems they were spoken long ago.
'Let us hope that they still speak of days to come!'
Éowyn: 'I supposed the time had come, <name>.'
