LM Info Box

Couple of thoughts:

  • "Lore-master inspection" now I know I'm biased (bcos I love playing my LM :D ) but I feel the LM inspection details should be included too, preferably as a table not a screenie. As many mobs come in 2 different levels there would need to be room for 2; although so far I've not seen any real difference between 2 mobs except morale/power. I've already screen-capped most of Ered Luin & Trollshaws (pre-bk 11 area) + a random selection elsewhere & will be happy to fill in the details once this is all set up.
  • Speico, I'd suggest you hold on doing too many more changes to individual pages until you & Adelas have hammered out the template between you ;) - you've both been doing excellent work on the topic & I'd hate to see either of you wasting too much time on stuff that gets changed again.

I have look at the Lore-master inspection window and yes I like LM too. this will be good if they add this in before I started doing this from the start :) lol. any way I am planing to add this in soon. I have notice that this only work on what you can harm target.--Speico 01:41, 29 November 2007 (PST)
Speico, good job on the LM stuff added in. Some suggestions (I thought about fixing the typos but I don't want to mess anything up)
  • 1 - the fifth line in mitigation should read "Ancient Dwarf" in the display (left) and in the code side (right).
  • 2 - I suggest changing the Conj.Immune line to say Conjunction Immunity. I think there is room for it here. I know they abbreviated it on the actual loremaster box, but since this wiki is made for clarifying things for people, I think it would be good to make that as clear as possible.
  • 3 - For the same reason, I think Stun Immune should become Stun Immunity. By the way, I just mean on the left side (the display) - obviously there is no reason to lengthen the code part.
  • 4 - On the line that says "Genus: (creature type)" I think it should say "Genus (Creature type):" in other words, moving the : symbol to the end.
  • 5 - See my sandbox suggestions for an example, but I feel that the Effect Icons information should be called Effect Types, and that it belongs with the other combat information. Currently, we have a lot of combat information (level/power/morale, the LM info, etc) and then we skip to locations, and then we talk about combat info again (effects). Can we switch the order of Locations and Effects?
  • 6 - What is Alignment? You have it listed beneath Family in the top section. I don't know what you mean by that; normally that is used to indicate if something is good or evil, but everything that would use this template would be evil-aligned. So maybe I'm misunderstanding.
I guess that's plenty of suggestions for right now. I am sure I have more but I'll have to look at it a bit. Good quick work on the LM stuff though.:) --Adelas 06:44, 29 November 2007 (PST)
I have done the fix that needed to be done. The Alignment is in the right area as yes it mead Good, Neutral or evil and this info is in the LM info Box.
  • I have see this template is getting very long like 32k so with all the info that is need to be type in we may need to look at PHP code to be add to the site for edited/picking/selecting information from tables or drop down list. to make life easy to enter in data. I am see if we can use wiki template to do this editing so we can just select what we need and just type in soome data and just sumbit it to a new page or update a old page. --Speico 09:23, 29 November 2007 (PST)

Auto category

[Removed original question] --Adelas 08:50, 27 November 2007 (PST)

  • 1. This template is NOW included on the templates page.
  • 2. The template does not automatically insert category based on the race, origin, family info.

But....

  • 3. This template needs a major overhaul. See Contributor's Corner for template questions in general.
  • 4. Can anyone explain what was originally meant by Threat Level in this template? Were they trying to refer to the difficulty rank (elite, etc) or the con level (red, purple, white etc) --Adelas 14:20, 16 November 2007 (PST)
4. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that it's just what might be better described as "Aggro Type", in other words: Green means happy fluffy bunnies that won't attack you, Yellow means the mob will "Threaten to attack" and Red means the mob will attack you on sight. If I'm right here, then the term used is incorrect and indeed quite misleading. I'd second removing it altogether, or replacing it with something more meaningful. --Fedaykin 15:51, 16 November 2007 (PST)
hi I back now sorry I been away for a bit.
  • 2 This is plan to be put in to a categories but I did not have time to do before I when a way. (So I will do this very soon).
  • 4 the Threat Level is just a colour code to show if the mob is going to attack you or not. this Threat Level is show in the status info box in-game. --Speico 18:13, 25 November 2007 (PST)

Welcome back Speico. Lets see if we can collaborate on this a little bit. The template needs to have some grammar things fixed, and I have several suggestions for changes that (I feel) may make the creature pages a little more useful from a reader's perspective. I am still learning how to make templates, so I decided to practice making templates by putting my suggestions into a template. You can see my ideas at User:Adelas/Creature_sandbox (see the discussion area for specific suggestions) and you can see how my template works at User:Adelas/Creature_sandbox-demo. My formatting is not very good :( but I know that the formatting can be fixed. I am more concerned about getting the content right.

Your new color coding looks very sharp and classy, and makes the template much easier to read! My only concern is, it looks a lot different from the rest of the lotro-wiki website.

About Threat Level - isn't this dependent on your character's level? For instance, a lvl 15 creature that is extremely aggressive toward a lvl 15 character, will NEVER attack a lvl 30 character unless they attack it first. So, this threat level is different for every character, and is not something that we could put on the site.

Also, we are working on updating the creature categories. See the category talk page for more information on that. --Adelas 08:14, 26 November 2007 (PST)

  1. Well, though the color coding looks a little different from the rest of the site, I have to say it looks good, so we might as well keep it for now.
  2. I agree on Threat Level. My suggestion is that you create a Threat Level page and have that as a link on the template so that the random person who views the creature information can actually find out what this means. Otherwise, the Threat Level is pretty much useless. --Fedaykin 15:24, 26 November 2007 (PST)

* Well I have add a Threat Level information page and add a ? link next to it. I have made some change to the code.--Speico 06:31, 27 November 2007 (PST)
Ok. As nice as that Threat Level page is, there was already a section on con level in the Creatures page; I think it would make more sense to link the ? to that page and simply add the information about threat level to that section, explaining that the color of the morale bar indicates the aggressiveness (threat level) of the creature, and that a creature with orange morale has high threat level and will attack if you come within its detection range, while a creature with a yellow morale bar will only defend itself. I'm verifying at what level they will attack, because I believe that yellow-morale creatures with a con level above your own will "threaten to attack" and eventually engage in combat.

Also, I believe the only creatures with green morale bars (green threat level) are NPCs, or enemies in instances who are still doing their theatrics (An example would be at the end of the GB quest. You get to the boss and they are green and not aggressive. Then after some dialog they turn aggressive and their bar goes from green to orange.)
Having said all that, I am kind of thinking that, rather than put a color-coded threat level, it might be easier to put something in the template that said morale-bar-color = (choose one, orange or yellow) and if they choose orange, put some text on the page that says "This creature is aggressive and will automatically attack any character in its detection radius." but if they choose yellow, make the text say "This creature is passive and will not automatically attack characters"... or something like that.

Also - Dances, I've heard of the LM inspection thing but never seen it. If you could please upload a couple and put a note on my talk page, I'll see what info it includes (I think it at least shows the damage resistances, right?) and come up with a suggestion for implementation.

Also - Speico, if you could please look at my suggestions for what I thought should be included on the creature infobox (you can find the suggestions at User:Adelas/Creature_sandbox and explanations on the corresponding User talk page), and make comments there, that would be very helpful.

Mob infobox

ALSO - can someone PLEASE clear up for me when we're supposed to be using the Mob infobox as opposed to the Creature infobox? To me, a Mob and a Creature are the same thing; most of my friends use the terms interchangeably. The description on the help page says "infobox for a mob/boss." So, should that infobox be used only for bosses? The main reason I ask is that sometimes that infobox is being used for non-boss humanoid creatures. We need to be consistent.--Adelas 08:50, 27 November 2007 (PST)

Concerning the LM Inspection... check out "inspection details" for bosses in The Rift or Carn Dum, Anarchie has done a great job with that.
As for Mob & Creature infoboxes... I am confused about that myself. I believe that what is meant here is that a "Mob" is a creature in an instance, whereas a "Creature" is everything else. However, I agree that this is inconsistent. I use the term "Mob" loosely for anything outside of instances as well. Something needs to be done here. I prefer using the Mob infobox for instance mobs, because the important details on those mobs (such as abilities) are better described in a list, and the general information on the mob can be easily filled out with the infobox. --Fedaykin 15:05, 27 November 2007 (PST)

Reputation & Crafting Drops

I have add a Reputation Drops list to the template. --Speico 07:33, 5 December 2007 (PST)

Plus I have add Crafting items drops too now. --Speico 08:35, 5 December 2007 (PST)

stealthily Mode

I have add a stealthily mode to the template. This is only a Yes or No option for now. --Speico 19:15, 16 December 2007 (PST)
