Hey guys, can I get some feedback? I made some major changes to the setup of this crafting item table (Apprentice level) and I was hoping for feedback before I continue on to the rest of the levels.

Stuff I don't figure anyone will complain about:

  • Removed the term "max" from the items saying +10 Max Power/morale
  • Linked the terms Morale and Power.
  • Added a description of the items used at this level and how many XP it takes to master it. (I want to do this for every level, and eventually put this section in for every crafting profession... but one step at a time.)

Stuff I wanted to get feedback on:

  • Added column "Critical Name" so that we would know what the crit item was called. Do you think I should call it "Critical Item" rather than Critical name?
  • Renamed column from "Critical Component" to "Mastery Component" since that's what it's called in the game.
  • Added description of the mastery components above the recipe table, and then abbreviated them in the table itself.

Stuff I didn't change until hearing what you thought:

  • I personally would rather see "3 Copper Ingots" than "Copper Ingot x3". If those had been linked, I could see having it that way for ease of typing, but they're not linked and never have been.
  • I personally feel that the only items that need to be linked in the tables are the actual items produced (so you can easily go to the individual item pages) and the effect pages (vitality, might, etc). Since I have provided links to the mastery components, do they really need to be linked in the table?
  • How can I fix this so that some of the columns don't wrap? I understand that we don't want the table to get too wide, but it's ridiculous that the "copper ingot x2" wraps onto two lines. Those extra 2 characters aren't going to stretch anybody's screen.

Finally, and I know this is a bit controversial, but... I would like to suggest that "Jeweller Recipes" and "Jeweller Items" be subheadings on the actual Jeweller page, instead of individual pages. Is there a good reason for separating them onto different pages rather than putting all the info on the Jeweller page? Yeah, the page would be long, but I really feel that splitting the information up only causes us to duplicate the information unnecessarily (and provides the opportunity for it to be updated on one page but not on the other!)... let me know.

And of course, that really applies to all of the crafting professions but as I have said before, one step at a time.

Thanks as always. --Adelas 13:24, 16 November 2007 (PST)

  • Fine - all the "no complaints" stuff ;) ; "critical item" instead of "critical name"; the descriptions
  • "Critical Component" to "Mastery Component" - I'd leave as was - "mastery" may be used in game but "critical" makes more sense - yes you do have to have mastered to use it, but it is there to improve your crit chance *rambles* but then so do scrolls and better tools and you can crit without out it, where am I going with this? dunno *end ramble* conclusion: I don't know what it should be called.
  • Yes go for 3 [[Copper Ingot]]s - it matches usage elsewhere.
  • links - so long as they are available somewhere near (not requiring 5 "page down's" to reach or whatever) I'd agree it's not worth linking every single repeat of an item. It can end up looking messier that way while not adding anything.
  • "Those extra 2 characters aren't going to stretch anybody's screen." well actually ... I regularly view on a 600x800 monitor and it already doesn't fit :/ (No probs if I'm on my gaming comp ;) ). Anyway. I think mostly we (the wiki) use a fixed table size but leave the browser to decide on column widths. It would be possible to fix the width of a specific colum - but what looks right in your browser may still not work on another machine, different browser etc especially if someone uses non-custom font sizes.
