'You are at a crucial step in your journey, [your name]. If you do not take the time to properly prepare your materials, to cut the leather with a steady hand and a sure eye, the goods you create will not hold up to the elements or to the wear of use. Lazy habits you have learned getting to this stage might already have sown the seeds of your failure as a tailor.

'I can tell you if this is so, but I will need to see an example of your work. Fashion a pair of deft gauntlets, and I will judge your merit as a craftsman by their quality...or by the lack of it.
