As described in the quest, head to the Stable-master of Rivendell and travel to Mirobel with a full fellowship. Upon arriving, head up the steps into the instance portal. At the end of the bridge you will find Laerdan, who tells you that you will need to defeat a Gorthorog called Strok to get the key to enter Tham Mírdain. He is found inside an old Arnorian ruin, straight down the road on which you found Laerdan (taking the right path at the intersection). At least half of the mobs on the way to him can be avoided. He is an Elite Master and has all the standard Gorthorog abilities, so he should not prove too difficult to defeat.
Once you have the key, head to the gate leading into Tham Mírdain, which is found by heading along the left path at the intersection that you passed earlier. Most of the groups can be avoided as usual. Head through the gate, after which you will need to fight your way through several rooms with mobs in almost every corner. Keep an eye out for Pale-folk Hornblowers, who will summon an Angmarim if they are not interrupted in time. Most of the patrolling mobs and a few mobs in the groups will run off once they get low on morale in order to aggro mobs from one of the other corners. You can prevent them from doing so by stunning or otherwise crowd-controlling them when they start to run away, then finishing them off.
Several such rooms later, you will come into a larger chamber with a named Elite Master Sorceress at the end guarding a gate. Clear all of the other mobs in the room first (otherwise she will aggro them), then take her on. She has two Angmarim adds, can heal both her allies and herself, and keeps a Blood-pact on her allies which causes them to receive the damage she takes. This can make the battle take a very long time, since she keeps summoning more adds soon after her current ones go down. It is a good idea to have an off-tank such as a Champion or Captain pull the two adds about 30+ meters away, so that they are out of range of her Blood-pact. The rest of the fellowship can then focus on taking her down, after which you will just need to finish off the adds. Once that's done, head through the gate.
This will bring you into the forging hall of Tham Mírdain, where Amarthiel awaits. After a short dialogue, she will attack the fellowship. A +5 Hope token may be needed, although the fight should only last a few minutes. She will then be interrupted by Mordrambor, whom she will chase through a gate. Follow them through, and then enjoy the cutscene. Once it's all over, return to Rivendell and talk to the watch-captain, then speak with Elrond and claim your reward.

Note: The conclusion of Volume 1: Shadows of Angmar will take place in Book 15, which is scheduled for release (free of charge) with Mines of Moria.
