So, though there was still some store of weapons in the Shire, these were used mostly as trophies, hanging above hearths or on walls, or gathered into the museum at Michel Delving. The Mathom-house it was called; for anything that Hobbits had no immediate use for, but were unwilling to throw away, they called a mathom. Their dwellings were apt to become rather crowded with mathoms, and many of the presents that passed from hand to hand were of that sort.

Description

In Lord of the Rings Online, a mathom is a reputation item that is used to increase reputation with the Hobbits' Mathom Society. Mathoms are turned in to the Mathom Society NPCs at the Mathom-house in Michel Delving in the Shire.

Types of Mathoms

There are three types of mathoms that can be acquired: Mathom, Well-kept Mathom, and Gift Mathom.

Gift Mathoms are obtained as quest rewards from various quests in the Shire (level 8 and above), and can be turned in to Greylond Bottomly outside the Mathom-house.

Mathoms and Well-kept Mathoms are dropped items looted from humanoids level 35 and above. Mathoms are turned in to Greylond Bottomly outside the Mathom-house. Well-kept Mathoms are turned in to Eustoma Muddybanks inside the Mathom-house.
