Ered Luin is a region of middle-earth on the western part of Eriador. It is the Starter Area for dwarves and elves during the Introduction Quests. After completion of these quests Ered Luin contains quests and monsters designed for characters between levels 4 and 15. The dwarf and elf Prologue Quests are included as part of these quests. Lower-level quests are available in Thorin's Hall and Celondim. The level of quests increases towards the center of the region near the city of Gondamon. Beasts in Ered Luin include wolves, boars, lynx, hendrovals, bears, cave-claws and spiders. Monsters in the region include Dourhand Dwarves, goblins and wights. Ered Luin also contains the higher level dungeon of Sarnúr, recommended for players between levels 40 and 50, in western Ered Luin.
Ered Luin contains dwarven housing in Thorin's Hall Homesteads and elven housing in Falathlorn Homesteads. The southeastern corner of the region, across the river Lhûn, connects to The Shire. Players can complete deeds and earn titles within Ered Luin for slaying creatures, completing quests and exploring the region.

Lore
- Ered Luin, or the Blue Mountains as they are known in Westron, are dominated by the realm established by the exile Dwarf-lord Thráin and passed on to his son, the great hero Thorin Oakenshield. Thorin's Hall was never particulary prosperous, for only iron could be mined there, but in recent years strife has nearly broken the realm.
- At the foot of the Mountains lies the Elf-refuge of Duillond, established after the fall of Edhelion. It is here that the timber used to build the White Ships of Mithlond is gathered. Elves and Dwarves alike must now contend with Dwarves of the Dourhand clan, who have become little more than well-organised brigands, and with Goblins that have passed into Ered Luin from Sarnûr.
